Mission
To provide patient-centered, high quality and timely virtual medical care for transgender and non-binary people in Ontario.
Values of Clinical Care
All staff and physicians recognize the lived experience of transphobia, racism, colonialism and trauma when engaging with patients and the community.
Physicians use their privileged role in society to directly advocate for their patients and for trans communities.
Physicians enter into clinical encounters without prejudgements about treatment and allow patients to voice their preferences.
Physicians use their clinical knowledge to guide safe decisions about medical care, and counsel patients about risks and benefits of treatments.
Physicians use their knowledge of the medical system in Ontario to help facilitate appropriate referrals.
Communication between patients and physicians is encouraged on an ongoing basis.
Connect-Clinic asks patients to regularly reflect on their interactions and provide feedback on their health and the impacts of their clinical care.
Rights and Responsibilities within Patient Visits
Patients have the right to ask questions about their care and to voice their preferences regarding their clinical care.
Physicians have the responsibility to use their clinical knowledge when offering treatments.
Expressions of homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism and other discriminatory behaviours will not be tolerated.
Verbal abuse (including swearing, threats or intimidation) towards staff or physicians will not be accepted and will result in discharge from Connect-Clinic.
